Paul, who is also a Jew, has studied the Hebrew Bible his entire life, but when he met Jesus his view on the Bible drastically changed. The message of the biblical story came together for him as he realized that the death and resurrection of Jesus were the key missing pieces. Therefore, when Paul is preaching and teaching to the Berean Jews, he wants them to have the same realizations that he did. He does not cast the Bible aside as irrelevant or outdated, rather he presents the message of the Bible in its fullness, a message that is fulfilled in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Many Christians these days rush to sources other than the Bible - every believer must hear what is in the Scriptures, and to examine carefully then to live accordingly. It was with this good intention that the Church of Antioch was founded.
OUR FAITH
The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, the sixty-six canonical books of the Old and New Testaments as originally written were inspired by God. We believe that it was uniquely, and that it was written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. They constitute the only infallible guide in faith and practice. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks. There is one true God, eternally exists eternally in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are of one substance and equal equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.
Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect Deity and true humanity united in one person forever. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own. He shall come again, personally and visibly, to complete his saving work and to consummate the eternal plan of God.
Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which is composed of all men, living and dead, who have been joined to Him through saving faith. God created Adam and Eve in his own image. By disobedience, they fell from their sinless state through the temptation by Satan. This fall plunged humanity into a state of sin and spiritual death, and brought upon the entire race the sentence of eternal death. From this condition we can be saved only by the grace of God, through faith, on the basis of the work of Christ, and by the agency of the Holy Spirit.
At the end of the age, the bodies of the dead shall be raised. The righteous shall enter into full possession of eternal bliss in the presence of God, and the wicked shall be condemned to eternal death. The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to "Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.
